Today will be a quick post because Elena is refusing a nap!
Lately on Pinterest I’ve continually come across this: Natural Home Scent from William-Sonoma. I don’t go very often but I’m sure it smells great, right?
Well friends, I decided I had to try it today. It is pretty simple: in a pot on the stove you simmer lemon, rosemary, vanilla and water. Easy enough.
But wait, of course I was out of lemons but decided I wouldn’t let that stop me. Out of my lack of ingredients came something WONDERFUL.
In my pot of amazingness (yes, a technical term here) I put:
- 3 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 1 lime (sliced)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
For those of you who are following along. Yes, the coconut was my own touch. I started off without it but felt like the rosemary was too strong. Seriously, the coconut makes this recipe.
My inspiration for adding the coconut was a favorite Yankee Candle of my mother’s: Coconut Lime Verbena.
I just added all of the ingredients to a small saucepan and put it on low to simmer. Every hour or so I have added a little more water and my house has smelled liked HEAVEN all day.
I’m looking forward to coming up with some other combinations to last me through the fall and winter.
